National Strategery for Victory in Iraq

Interesting that we finally see the words “strategy” and “victory” in the same sentence. What a stupid moron of a president and administration we have. Jeez. Really though, more likely, how stupid the president and his administration must think the American public is. I just … this is unbelievable.

NOW? Now the white house comes out with this? It confirms the notion that they had no idea what they were doing going in and had no idea how to get out.

If only the news media and everyone else would realize this war and the “war on terror” is ALL ABOUT OIL - stop fooling yourselves!

National Strategery for Victory in Iraq: “National Strategery for Victory in Iraq. Some might recommend having a strategy for victory before the war starts, but President Bush unveiled our National Stategy for Victory in Iraq (deconstructed here) today at another recitation of his ‘major speech’ on Iraq at a captive audience at a military installation. I like this part:

Victory in Iraq is a Vital U.S. Interest

  • Iraq is the central front in the global war on terror. Failure in Iraq will embolden terrorists and expand their reach; success in Iraq will deal them a decisive and crippling blow.
  • The fate of the greater Middle East—which will have a profound and lasting impact on American security—hangs in the balance.

1. It wasn’t the central front until we made it the central front. So, our interest is to foster terrorism?

2. “The fate of the greater middle east … ” why are they determining it has a “fate” and why will this fate “have a profound and lasting impact on American security?” Hmmm? That impact wouldn’t happen to be on our glutinous demand for oil and the administrations desire to secure all we can, would it?

The way everything is written is so war-like. Even in this excerpt … “central front,” “decisive and crippling blow,” “profound and lasting impact” …

the whole world is going to explode! oh no!

everyone!

be afraid! be very afraid. but trust us, we don’t know what we’re doing. (but they really do).

live in fear! pay no attention to us while we make as much money as we can!

global warming fun!

News about ecological problems is depressing, but I can sure depress myself by reading too much of it! Grist has a great, albeit short, interview with Larry David, co-creator of “Seinfeld” and other great comedy acts/shows/etc.

Main Dish: Comedian Larry David chats about making global warming funny: “This Sunday night, you may find yourself crying over global warming—crying because you’re laughing so hard, thanks to Larry David, co-creator of Seinfeld and creator and star of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and his eco-activist wife, Laurie David.”

(Via Grist Magazine.)

It is good to hear about this. I wish I had TBS so I could tune in. It will be broadcast on TBS Sunday, November 20 at 8/7c.

Even though Larry and his wife Laurie are Hollywood elite, it’s good to hear they are active and doing what they can. (Grist has a good interview with Laurie, too.)

Lastly … I’ve known about the www.stopglobalwarming.com site for a while, but just haven’t visited it to see what it’s about. I signed up, and if you haven’t, click here to sign up as one of my “friends” so I can see the difference I’m making!

Oil and lying

What is it? What don’t I get?

Why is it that the war in Iraq is always being reported as the “war on terrorism” rather than what it really is? The war for oil? I mean, can anyone really dispute that? Isn’t it completely and totally obvious by now? As if it wasn’t from the start?

WMDs was false – none there. The imminent threat of Saddam Hussein was false – many other regimes post a much greater threat to the U.S. and others. The spread of democracy to the middle east? Sounds great, but then why are we sending billions of dollars 20 or more dictatorial governments in the middle east to buy weapons? This is all old news, and they’re still reporting the same old thing!

Bush invaded Iraq AND Afghanistan for OIL.

OIL.

Nothing else.

Depressing. I went to see this movie: “The Oil Factor”. Very good. Very moving. Before the screened “The Oil Factor” they also showed about 1/2 of the movie “Hidden Wars of Desert Storm” that was made before this one, about the first gulf war.

I knew the basics of what they covered in both movies, but they presented far more than I knew. They even have an interview with the executive director of the PNAC, in all his ridiculous glory. The movie goes beyond Iraq to mostly forgotten Afghanistan to simply explain the obvious strategy behind these invasions and occupations. It is so obvious. Just a minimum amount of research will prove it. (If anyone doubts it …)

I’m just waiting for the day that it all falls apart.

To me, all the blatant lying signals the end is mounting. The Bush administration is lying. Corporations are lying. Reporters are lying. The new media is fooling themselves. The general public isn’t paying much attention. Fucking holy jeez! ha ha! What’s so hard about being honest?
