La Florida!

My sister and IIt’s sunny, it’s humid, it’s hot, it’s flat … it’s bland. It’s Florida!

My sister is beautiful! She’s 39 weeks pregnant with her first kid. My mom and Gary have bought a new house in Leesburg and I’m helping them move in and such. My sister and I are in the “living area” of the new place in the picture. It’s a very central Florida house, in what is known as an adult golf community. 80% of the residents are retirees. Neither my mom, nor Gary play golf. But, the house is nice!

I’m here to visit family, soak up some sun, hang-out, be lazy, see friends and then take off to Europe on December 16.

Leesburg is in Lake County, and as you can see by the map below, this part of the state can be described as “porous” it has so many lakes in it! All those black dots? Lakes. If you scroll the map to the right, to the big lake shaped like a gourd - I grew up at the south end of that Lake in Winter Garden.

fare the well …

very cool with where I'm atThere is nothing like dinner and drinks with friends in Seattle. There’s always a good time to be had.

My friends Robert, Kelli, Danielle and Kevin met me at Brouwers Café in Fremont for a night of card playin, trash-talkin, trip-detailing, beer-drinking conversation. It was nice! Brouwers is a great place. Tons of different beers on tap, good food, decent atmosphere and cute wait staff. ;)
We played several rounds of Skip-Bo and it’s always a blast.

sleeping arrangementsMy new sleeping arrangements will be my trusty Peak 1 “Quetico” sleeping bag, my red Insul-Mat and my SlumberJack camp pillow. I’ve never actually slept in this arrangement before. So, by the time morning comes, I might end up on the couch that is 2 feet to my right at this moment.

I’m flying out Friday morning for Florida. I will definitely miss Seattle, more than I can imagine right now. I will appreciate it when I return, I’m sure.

I’ve lightened my load

Sold truckYesterday I sold my truck! And, today, arranged air-travel to Florida! I fly out Friday morning on Alaska Airlines.

So, I’m almost off! It’s my last day cat/house-sitting and tonight I’m meeting up with some friends for a farewell bite to eat/drink. If you want to meet up with us, we’ll be at Brouwer’s Cafe in Fremont this evening.
