And I’m tired. But, I have a nice bed already made for me to sleep in. I’m gonna find something to eat, eat it, then come back to the hostel for a shower and then on to bed early. Hopefully my dorm-mates will not be annoying and will be quiet and let me have my beauty sleep!
Bergen seems like an interesting city. The ride here was a scenic breath-taker and jaw-dropper. I just wish I hadn’t been on the goddamn bus! It would have taken me forever to drive here, though, as I would have been driving so slow and stopping a lot to take it all in.
I also wish I hadn’t been on the bus because one of my worst bus nightmares came true - people puking on the bus. Bleck! I felt so sorry for the people when I wasn’t too grossed out. Yes, people, as in more than one person hurling. First it was this cute little boy sitting with his dad in the row in front of me. Then it was his mom who had sad briefly across the aisle from them. Then it was his sister who was in the seat directly across the aisle from me. Then it was what looked like the little boys grandma or something. I don’t know what the hell was going on! I think the little guy just had problems with motion sickness. He was hurling and retching the whole way. All the others I think were just sympathy-puking as they only lost it a few times. Pretty gross. But, luckily I had my iPod and my headphones that block out most noise. I couldn’t hear much of anything unless the music stopped or got really quiet. My worst nightmare, by the way, is if I puked on a bus. I’ve never been close, but damn that would suck.
Anyway … so Norway is BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely. I didn’t expect it to be so, just, gosh. Wow! I want to come back and drive that route again.
I had a good send off from Frilund Gård. Ingunn and Kerstin and everyone was great. It was a wonderful experience, and I’ve been invited back! We had waffles at 10:30 pm last night and they gave me a book by a Norwegian author as a parting gift and I showed them a bunch of photos until we couldn’t say away any longer. This morning I had a quick shower, breakfast, gave a couple hugs and I was off! I didn’t get to say goodbye to the other Kerstin and her kids Marie and Nora, but we exchanged emails so hopefully we’ll be in contact that way! I’ll definitely miss the farm there in Bjorkelangen and the people and the tractors and cows and calves.
A couple cool things to brighten my arrival in Bergen internet experience - I had an email from my friend Jeff who I haven’t talked to or emailed in years. And, I got another email from Cia with an update on the goings on in southern France. It’s good to hear from people (hint, hint! ;))!
The next farm has internet access, so … maybe I’ll be posting more soon.
