I caught a ride with Bob this morning along with fellow wwoofers Rob and Andres to Kenmare. There’s an internet cafe here with wifi access, so I can do all kinds of catching up. And, it’s cheaper than the small place in Sneem, anyway. Rob and I grabbed coffee and I settled myself into the internet place, and now that my battery is about to run out, I wanted to post really quickly.
I am very happy to say that my feelings about KAT, contrary to my last post, have flipped almost 180-degrees and I quite like the place. It has everything to do with the festival being over, engaging in some better farm-type work and the weather taking an incredible turn for the better. Everything I wrote before still applies, really. Just know that I’ve not got the same soggy impression of the place. I’m half-sortof-a little bit concerned about where I’m going next, still, though.
The first thing I did was look up more wwoof hosts in Ireland in a last-ditch attempt to see where else I could go. I guess I didn’t write before that the host I had hoped to go to next changed their plans and I essentially can’t go there when I wanted to, which means I can’t go there at all. And, I don’t really have a reserve … so hopefully one of the places can come through for me, or I may just stay in Sneem for a bit longer and then do a quick rush through Ireland up to Scotland. Then, stay in Scotland for a week, then head to Wales for a time and by that time it will be close to my flight back to the USA.
I’ve sorta got this friskiness in the pit of my gut about this last month abroad. I know I don’t have much time, but there’s not much I can do to “maximize” it, as money is tight and I’m honestly traveled-out. I am sorta looking forward to being back in the USA, as all kinds of adventures await me there as well, including a 15-year high-school reunion, some interesting women, and my next move in changing my life! Alas, it’s a beautiful day outside, and I’m ready to be out in it!
